Global Education Monitoring Report, 2019: Migration, Displacement and Education: Building Bridges, not Walls

Sharing core norms and values
Jan 23, 2019 | UNESCO

Migration is characterized by both order and disorder as societies striving to manage population movements face often unpredictable inflows. Some movements create new divisions, while others benefit both source and destination countries. This report by UNESCO looks at migration and displacement through the eyes of teachers and education administrators faced with diverse classrooms, schoolyards, communities, labour markets and societies. It addresses two questions: How do population movements affect education access and quality; and what are the implications for migrants and refugees? The report shows how education can open up these perspectives and bring opportunities for all.
