With the majority of the world’s population already living in urban areas, feeding cities with accessible, affordable food and healthy diets poses unprecedented challenges. In this publication by the FAO, Yves Cabannes and Cecilia Marocchino highlight examples from developed and developing countries on innovations in food systems and implementation of sustainable urban food planning in different contexts that will withstand the test of time. Although each urban and territorial scenario is unique, many of the challenges and potential solutions are similar.
