Human Societies need a new Non-predatory Version of Globalisation
Although the world faces both slower growth and environmental degradation, we are at odds over solutions. In his address to the
Kigali Global Dialogue, Sunjoy Joshi of the
Observer Research Foundation suggests that as 20th century post-industrial models of growth and development no longer work, new pathways must be drawn for a world which is more interdependent than ever before, and whose problems need more globalisation, not less. He notes that the 20th century promise of a globalised world order achieving prosperity through free markets and integrated value chains is now hostage to trade wars, but that in its demise may offer hope for a different version of globalisation.
