The Impact of COVID-19 on People experiencing Poverty and Vulnerability

Reducing poverty and improving equity
Aug 22, 2020 | European Anti-Poverty Network, Graciela Malgesini

The study by the European Anti-Poverty Network by Graciela Malgesini with the support of 25 national networks, analyses: health, social protection and minimum income systems in the EU before the COVID-19 pandemic, the positive and negative changes in systems produced by the spread of the pandemic, and the measures adopted by governments to tackle the situation. The authors suggest that at the national level, the fight against the pandemic should be focused on: the promotion of rights and protection of the vulnerable groups, greater generosity in income support, building more effective long-term social systems, and strategies to fight poverty.
