Financing the UN Development System - Time to Walk the Talk
The COVID-19 pandemic has raised the need for a reform of the UN Development System. Important steps were taken in 2019 as Member States agreed on a Funding Compact, which committed them to tackling a number of financial challenges to effective implementation of the
2030 Agenda. In their paper for the
Dag Hammarskjold Foundation, Jennifer Topping, Bruce Jenks, Per Andersson, Kristin Blom
et al argue that while such efforts were critical before the pandemic, they are even more so now. As the pandemic may bring progress in many areas to a standstill or, worse, reverse them, the UN and its Member States must remain on course, reaffirming their commitment to achieving the
2030 Agenda and ensuring that no one is left behind.
