Working towards a Socially Inclusive and Poverty-proof Recovery from the COVID-19 Pandemic

Reducing poverty and improving equity
Mar 01, 2021 | European Anti-Poverty Network

Amidst the uncertainty in 2020 among anti-poverty organisations about how far poverty and social rights are still a priority, this document by the European Anti-Poverty Network (EAPN) sets out an action plan to shape the new EU policy framework in employment, social policy, equal opportunities and inequalities. The aim is not only to prevent “harm from climate change and transition” as proposed by the European Green Deal, but also to benefit low-income households and vulnerable groups, helping to reduce inequality and fight poverty. It proposes soft and hard law measures, with timetables at EU and national levels, and maps progress towards social rights that guarantee basic living standards for all EU residents.
