The Least Developed Countries need a New Generation of International Support Measures to Face the Development Challenges of the 2020s

Reducing poverty and improving equity
Mar 29, 2022 | UNCTAD Policy Brief

The disappointing performance of Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and the context in which they find themselves at present mean that, they will be unable to bridge the investment and technology gaps vis-à-vis other country groups, warns this UNCTAD Policy Brief. A new generation of international support measures for LDCs should aim at strengthening international support measures, to make them more appropriate and effective, and at establishing new measures, to address the gaps in international support. Focusing on ‘Past performance, Challenges, and Alternatives’ the Brief proposes principles that could assist the international community in enhancing the coordination, synergy and coherence of such measures.
