Russia’s Invasion of Ukraine is Creating Cascading Global Risks – Here is what to Watch for

The geopolitical consequences and cascading risks of the of the Russia–Ukraine conflict are disturbing long-standing global peace and security arrangements whose durability has been taken for granted. While some of these risks are more tangible and immediate, such as those to food and energy security, other emerging risks are poorly understood. By analysing risks in key Eurasian hotspots across global systems - peace and security, financial, organised crime, climate governance and commodities - this map from the Overseas Development Institute’s publication Russian-Ukrainian War: A Watchlist of Evolving Systems Risks in Eurasian Hotspots, highlights the risks generated by the war.
