The Countries with the 10 largest Christian Populations and the 10 largest Muslim Populations

Sharing core norms and values
Apr 06, 2019 | Pew Research, Jeff Diamant

The tables of countries with the largest Christian and Muslim populations in this article by Jeff Diamant for Pew Research reveal differences in the concentration, diversity and expected changes in the world’s two largest religions. They show that the Muslim population is more heavily concentrated in the main Muslim population centres while the global Christian population is more broadly dispersed around the world. Some 65 percent of the world’s Muslims live in the ten countries with the largest Muslim populations, while only 48 percent of Christians live in the ten countries with the largest Christian populations.
