How Water Scarcity Triggers the Refugee Crisis - and what Tech can do to Solve it

Addressing vulnerability and promoting security
Jun 21, 2019 | WEF Global Agenda on Water and Migration, Maxim Pasik

Every year, thousands of people are forced to leave their homes due to climate-related constraints on drinking water and food production. As 25percent of the planet is expected to experience serious drought and desertification in less than 30 years, water shortages will play a key role in human migration. Maxim Pasik suggests in this article by the WEF Global Agenda on Water and Migration that trail-blazing technologies can create a source of fresh, clean drinking water for vulnerable citizens. Cost-effective wastewater treatment solutions can help, and new air conditioning and dehumidifier technology can draw pure drinking water from the atmosphere.
