State of Commodity Dependence 2019

Delivering sustainable economic growth
Jun 22, 2019 | UNCTAD

In this publication, UNCTAD presents statistical profiles of 30 indicators for 189 countries, to describe the extent of each country’s export and import commodity dependence. It identifies structural and socioeconomic variables related to commodity dependence, such as GDP growth and per capita GDP, the Human Development Index, value-added by sector of the economy, and the quality of institutions. It quantifies the state of commodity dependence around the world, presents its evolution over the past 20 years, and provides examples of how exports of countries with different economic structures and commodity dependence have evolved.
