Whoever leads in Artificial Intelligence in 2030 will rule the World until 2100

Delivering sustainable economic growth
Jan 28, 2020 | Brookings Institution, Intermit Gill, Wolfgang Fengler, et al

While the pace of invention may not have accelerated, the time between invention and implementation has shrunk. It was cut from about 80 years for the steam engine to 40 years for electricity, and then to about 20 years for IT. The implementation lag for AI-related technologies is about ten years.  In this article for the Brookings Institution, Intermit Gill, Wolfgang Fengler, et al suggest that with technological change speeding up and first-mover advantages as big as they have always been, the need for large and coordinated investments is growing. They explain how this technological age differs from earlier ages, and forecast trends during the next decade.
