People-centred Justice for All - A Route to scaling up Access to Justice Advice and Assistance in Low-income Countries

Reducing poverty and improving equity
Apr 17, 2021 | Overseas Development Institute, Marcus Manuel, Clare Manuel

In low-income countries, financing and scaling up access to people-centred justice are pressing. Access to justice is both as an end in itself and an enabler for the SDGs, but it is very limited in many countries and has been worsened by COVID-19, suggest Marcus Manuel and Clare Manuel in this article for the Overseas Development Institute. Better coordination and targeting of aid could make community-based advice and assistance accessible for everyone in low-income countries. They review the lessons from other sectors in considering the case for a targeted results-focused global fund.
