Addressing vulnerability and promoting security
Nov 15, 2022 | Visual Capitalist

The UN has estimated that 15 November 2022, is the date on which the world population will officially reach eight billion. In fact, Earth’s population is expected to continue growing until it hits a peak – possibly over ten billion persons – at some point in the 2080s. Nick Routley, Avery Koop et al note in Visual Capitalist that in just 48 years, the world population has doubled in size, rising from four to eight billion. Humans are not equally spread throughout the planet, and countries are of all shapes and sizes. The visualizations in this article show how the eight billion people are distributed around the world.
