Resilient Rural Women: Applying Personas and Insights for Climate-Smart Innovation

Reducing poverty and improving equity
Jun 05, 2023 | Consultative Group to Assist the Poor

Beyond the overarching impact of climate, there is nuance in how different groups of rural women understand, perceive and react to the stresses and shocks related to the phenomenon. The population of rural women in low-income countries is vast and diverse, and varies according to life stage, livelihood, and cultural context, and no single, mass market solution will effectively serve them. In their report for the Consultative Group to Assist the Poor, Jamie Anderson, Barbara Scola, Chloe Gueguen, et al explore three personas of rural women and their distinct customer journeys through product and service engagement. They spotlight examples of providers offering services tailored to rural women that can ultimately help build climate resilience.
