Even in the United States, thepolitical system has weakened some of its democratic institutions, especially duringand in the wake of the Trump presidency. Given such developments, the next fewyears will see increased tensions and attempts at regionalization, andfractionalization of technological development. Global coalitions will beimpacted by security concerns at a time when the world is trapped ininterdependencies formed by globalization and global challenges.
