India’s G20 Presidency – A Showcase for skillful Minilateralism

New Delhi intends taking full advantage ofthe presidency to showcase its position as a multi-aligned emerging power andlegitimate leader of the so-called Global South, suggests AmaiaSánchez-Cacicedo in her article for the European Institute for SecurityStudies.  She explains India’sinternational and domestic motivations in pursuing an active G20 presidency andlooks at how the Indian regime is propagating its own civilisational worldviewswhile pursuing a transactional foreign policy. She addresses the implicationsof India’s acquiescence to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and itsmembership in minilateral groupings with strong Russian and/or Chineseleadership. The final section addresses the caveats and opportunities forEU-India minilateralism.
