Most Jewish Americans have Long-standing Connections to Israel

Pew Research Center survey, John Gramlich and Alan Cooperman suggestthat 82 percent of Jewish adults in the United States said that caring aboutIsrael is an essential or important part of being Jewish. Sixty percent said they have much in common with Jews inIsrael; 58 percent said that they are very, or somewhat, emotionally attached to Israel; and 57percent that they follow news about Israel very, or somewhat closely, Overall,Jewish Americans accounted for an estimated2.4 percent of the total U.S. adult population at the time of thestudy.
