Sexual and Reproductive Health Literacy among Young People in Sub-Saharan Africa: Evidence Synthesis and Implications

About 11 percent of all pregnanciesworldwide occur in very young women, specifically adolescents, and about 95percent of these pregnancies occur in low- and lower-middle-income countries.This study, published by the Taylor & Francis Group, provides a coherentsynthesis of the available evidence on sexual and reproductive health literacyamong young people in sub-Saharan Africa, with implications for policy,interventions, and research. The review finds that sexual and reproductive healthliteracy among young people in sub-Saharan Africa is concerning and has notbeen fully researched. A deeper understanding of the issue is essential to designand implement effective interventions to improve sexual and reproductive healthliteracy and health outcomes among young people.
