On Nov. 20, Ukraine marks 1,000 days after Russia’s invasion. Despite having suffered countless casualties, millions of refugees, and hundreds of shattered communities, it continues to maintain stiff resistance Russia’s aggression was motivated by Kyiv’s pro-Western orientation. Donald Trump’s reelection in the US will put significant pressure on Kyiv next year to agree to negotiations with Moscow, which may result in an almost certainly temporary cease-fire and freezing of the conflict. The Middle East Institute in this briefing also discusses a ceasefire deal on Lebanon; the collapse of Gaza; West Bank annexation;  and war crimes accusations spark global outrage.
