Eco-nomics for an Ecological Civilisation

Sharing core norms and values
Jan 21, 2025 | Club of Rome

Conventional economics, asserts David Korten in this publication for the Club of Rome, serves us well only if our purpose is to exploit people and Earth to make money for the already rich. He designates that ego-nomics as its focus on personal financial return. To secure the wellbeing of all of Earth’s people, he argues, we need a new economics that guides us on a path to an ecological civilization in which caring for life takes priority over exploiting life to grow money for those already the richest among us. Adopting this approach is urgently needed to prevent irreversible damage to Earth and its inhabitants by the end of the present decade. Shifting the economic paradigm can, however, preserve not just human life but all life on Earth.  http://www.clubofrome.org
