After months of negotiations, the minerals agreement signed by the US and Ukraine at the end of April 2025 enshrines US support for peace, resilience, sovereignty and reconstruction in Ukraine. It carries geopolitical weight for Ukraine and the US – as well as for the EU – and sends a clear message to Russia. Finally, if successfully implemented, the Agreement could also have implications on China’s long-term global role.
