Europe Stands at a Crossroads – Where Are we Going, Europe?

Improving global governance
Dec 09, 2025 | The State of European Tech

What will define the next decade of European tech, and how the EU can take control of its future are the questions addressed in this report by The State of European Tech. In 2025, almost 60% more people in Europe started companies than in 2023. At 27,000+, this is the highest number of founders starting new ventures in Europe. The race for innovation is accelerating everywhere, and in Europe it has exploded. Among AI founders specifically, the share of those building companies on the continent has increased from 74% to 81%. Europe is thus the launchpad of choice for the overwhelming majority of EU founders. This year’s report focuses on the most urgent challenges and opportunities Europe must address to define its future. Achieving these over the next decade could unlock trillions of euros in GDP, millions of jobs, and the future security of the continent. https://www.stateofeuropeantech.com#catching-up-fast
